Slasher

A serial killer struggle to suppress her homicidal urges as her mental state deteriorates

Slasher is a short horror film that I wrote and directed for my university course. This was not my first forray into genre filmmaking, but was the most ambitious example I had been involved in up to this point. Most significantly, this was the first project I worked on with Molly Hipkiss and Dominic Pottle, and this film led us to form an informal filmmaking troupe that produced films like Good Morning, Axolotl Armaggeddon and, most notably, Thorax. This was my introduction to working with special effects, which taught me invaluable lessons which I took with me into making Good Morning and Thorax. My experience with special effects on this film made me a much more ambitious and careful filmmaker, as it made me appreciate the importance of reliable scheduling, exhaustive planning and the ability to work under the pressure of only having one shot to nail a take.
